Newport Harbor High junior right fielder Cade Seabold and Luke Genova, a senior pitcher and first baseman, garnered first-team All-Sunset League accolades in baseball, while freshman infielder John Olmstead shared the Rookie of the Year honor.

Seabold and Genova helped Newport Harbor go from a two-win team in league in 2015 to a seven-win team this year. The Sailors (13-14, 7-8 in league) shared fourth place with Los Alamitos, just missing earning an automatic berth into the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs that goes to the league’s top three teams.

Seabold batted .507 with two home runs and 16 runs batted in. He finished with a .753 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage. He added 12 doubles and 15 runs.

Genova hit .346 with three home runs and 16 RBIs. He finished with a .580 slugging percentage, along with eight doubles, one triple, 16 runs and 16 walks.

Olmstead, who played shortstop and second base, batted .244 with one home run and 10 RBIs. He added 11 doubles and 16 runs.

Making the second team for Newport Harbor was senior pitcher Jeremiah Sheldon, sophomore catcher Max Crabbe and senior left fielder Josh Spicer.
