High School Roundup: CdM girls’ soccer shuts out Corona

GIRLS’ SOCCER

CORONA — Hailey Neumann and Sara Neiger each scored for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s Sunny Hills Tournament game.

Kat Hess made six saves for CdM, which improved to 2-0 in pool play. The Sea Kings play Los Altos at noon Saturday at Corona High for their last pool-play game. If they win, they play at 6:30 p.m. for the championship.

CdM plays host to Mission Viejo on Thursday in a nonleague game.

Ocean View 2, Estancia 0

HUNTINGTON BEACH — The Eagles fell to 4-2-2 after losing the nonleague game Tuesday at Ocean View High.

Estancia, ranked No. 6 in CIF Southern Section Division 5, plays host to Fountain Valley on Thursday.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Cypress 41, Corona del Mar 34

SANTA ANA — Natalia Bruening had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Sea Kings in Monday’s pool-play opener of the Segerstrom tournament.

Corona del Mar (4-2), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division 3A, continues pool play against host Segerstrom on Wedhesday at 4:30 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 0, Newport Harbor 0

The host Sea Kings and Sailors played to tie in the Battle of the Bay Monday.

The game had been originally scheduled for Friday, but was postponed to Monday because of rainy conditions.

CdM Coach George Larsen remained unbeaten against Newport Harbor in the Battle of the Bay, with a 4-0-3 record.

The Sea Kings (3-1-1) play at Estancia Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The Sailors (0-4-1) play at Kennedy High Friday at 3:15 p.m.

Estancia 2, Cypress 0

Memo Sosa and Salvador Escalante each scored a goal for the Eagles in a nonleague match at home on Monday.

Kevin Pizarro and Adan Rodriguez had assists for Estancia (5-0-1).

The Eagles play host to Corona del Mar on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
