College Roundup: UCI knocks off Utah State

MEN’S BASKETBALL

UC Irvine 73, Utah State 63

LOGAN, Utah — Alex Young, Mamadou Ndiaye and Luke Nelson combined for 52 points to lead in the nonconference game before 8,857 at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum Saturday night.

Young scored a season-high 20 points, hitting eight of 13 field goals, and added four rebounds, four assists and two steals for UCI (7-3).

Ndiaye recorded his third straight double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds (tying his career), and he registered four blocked shots.

Nelson scored 15 points as the Anteaters handed the Aggies (5-3) their first home loss of the season.

The Anteaters travel to Eugene to face Oregon on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Orange Coast 65, Moorpark 49

Sarah Nunes scored 15 points to lead the Pirates in the nonconference game on Saturday.

Sami Little led OCC (6-5) with nine rebounds.

Megan Lewis added 12 points, while Michelle Wu and Jenna Rodriguez scored 10 points each.

Moorpark is 4-7.
