BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Newport Harbor 61, St. Margaret’s 26

CYPRESS — Charlie Stassel and Nate Harding scored 11 points each to lead the Sailors in the semifinals of the Oxford Academy tournament on Thursday.

Newport Harbor (7-2) will play against Whittier Christian in the championshp game Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Estancia 59, Tarbut V’Torah 46

Evan Pettingil scored 27 points to lead the Eagles to the victory in the Santa Ana Valley Tournament on Thursday.

Cameron Jones added 12 points for Estancia, which plays against Los Amigos on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Tri-Meet

SANTA ANA — Newport Harbor High beat El Toro, 60-21, and defeated Foothill, 43-33, at Foothill High on Thursday.

Junior Ethan Zimmerman (152 pounds) recorded two pins for the Sailors.

Junior Michael Craft (132 pounds, pin, forfeit), senior Erik Herrera (138, major decision, forfeit), senior Harrison Reich (145, decision, pin), junior Fred Dennison (182, pin, forfeit), senior David Santos (195, pin, forfeit) also contributed.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Estancia 3, Marina 0

Katarina Freiberger, Emily Rodriguez, Lexi Osso scored for the Eagles in the nonleague game on Thursday.

Goalie Annalyse Cowie recorded the shutout for Estancia.

Elizabeth Esquivel, Brandi White, Samantha Haynes and Lexina McDowell stood out defensively in the back line.

Sage Hill 2, Laguna Beach 1

Lauren Thunen and Claire Novotny scored for the Lightning in the nonleague game on Thursday.

Tiffany Taylor and Lexi Magliarditi recorded one assist each for Sage Hill.

Goalie Sarah Lowrey made 10 saves.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Tesoro 44, Corona del Mar 28

Kat Hess and Kelly Tam socred nine points each for the Sea Kings in the nonleague game on Thursday.

Natalia Bruening added eight points for CdM, which plays against Cypress to start the Segerstrom tournament on Monday at 6 p.m.
