High School Roundup: CdM girls open hoops tournament with win

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Corona del Mar 67, Los Amigos 23

Natalia Bruening delivered a double-double, 25 points and 15 rebounds, to lead the Sea Kings to open the CdM Tip-Off tournament on Monday.

Tia Grippo and Kelly Tam (three steals) added nine points each, while Krista Anderson and Melody Yoo scored eight points each for CdM.

The Sea Kings play against Dana Hills Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Estancia 61, Santa Ana 43

CYPRESS — Finley Garnett had 27 points for the Eagles in their Oxford Academy tournament opener on Monday.

Maya Van Den Heever had 13 points and 10 assists for Estancia (1-0), while her twin sister, Nefertiti, had eight points and eight rebounds.

Estancia continues tournament play Wednesday at 3 p.m. against either Garden Grove or St. Joseph.

Sage Hill 57, Bolsa Grande 52

CYPRESS — Heather Park scored 28 points to lead the Lightning in the Oxford Academy tournament on Tuesday.

Kenna Knollenberg added 11 points and Kate Knollenberg had eight points for Sage Hill (1-1).

Park led the Lightning with 14 points in a 60-46 loss to Godinez in the Oxford Academy tournament on Monday.

Emily Hublitz added 11 points and Kate and Kenna Knollenberg scored eight points each for Sage Hill.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Estancia 48, Oxford Academy 45

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Evan Pettingill scored 12 points to lead the Eagles in a pool-play game of the Los Amigos tournament on Tuesday.

Connor Brown added 11 points for Estancia (1-1), which plays against Whitney in pool play Wednesday at 5:40 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 3, Marina 1

HUNTINGTON BEACH —Blake Munger, Jack Tomei and Leo Alves scored for the Sea Kings in their season opener on Monday.

Will O’Connor delivered a cross to Alves for CdM’s final goal.

Koen Ebbinga and Christopher Bartolic shared duties in goal for the Sea Kings (1-0).

CdM plays at Tesoro on Thursday at 5 p.m.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Estancia 3, Santa Ana Valley 1

Senior Emily Rodriguez, sophmore Daniela Serpas and freshman Magaly Romualdo each scored for the Eagles in the nonleague game on Tuesday.

Estancia plays at Woodbridge on Wednesday.
