College Roundup: Vanguard men take care of Bethesda

Jaamon Echols scored a game-high 24 points to go with six rebounds, five assists and four teals for the Lions in the Vanguard University Thanksgiving Classic on Friday in the Pit.
Zach Allmon added 12 points, nine points and five steals, while Malachi Hoosein scored 11 points for Vanguard (5-0).
The Lions outrebounded Bethesda, 44-43.
Vanguard built a 43-29 lead in the first half.
The Lions will take on Benedictine Saturday at 5:30 p.m., also part of the Vanguard University Thanksgiving Classic.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Princeton 83, UC Irvine 42
LOS ANGELES — Jenny Dee came off the bench in the fourth quarter and recorded nine points to lead the Anteaters in the first game of the Loyola Marymount Thanksgiving Classic held in Gersten Pavilion Friday.
The Tigers, who are receiving votes in the national poll, jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back leading 26-9 after the first period and 48-20 at the half.
Mckenzie Piper and Raelyn Cheung-Sutton each scored six points, while Paulina Santana added five points for UCI. Arianna Knox had a team-high five rebounds for the Anteaters.
The Anteaters shot 23.2% (16 for 69) from the floor and were out-rebounded 54-33 by the Tigers. Princeton shot 50.8% (32-63) from the field, knocking down seven threes.
Princeton’s Michelle Miller had a game-high 21 points in 12 minutes of action.
UCI will play against Loyola Marymount Saturday at 1 p.m.
