College Roundup: UCI men’s water polo to play for fifth in MPSF tourney

LOS ANGELES — A string of five consecutive goals propelled the Anteaters in a fifth-place semifinal game of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament at USC Saturday.
Trailing 2-1 late in the first quarter, UCI (16-11) reeled off five straight goals.
Lovre Milos led the Anteaters with three goals and Ryan Warde scored two.
Senior goalie Dylan Peterson recorded 16 saves.
Derek Shoemaker scored two goals to lead UCSB (16-11).
UCI faces Stanford in the fifth-place game Sunday at 1 p.m.

UNLV 72, UC Irvine 52
LAS VEGAS — Mokun Fajemisin posted her first double-double of the season with a season-high 16 points and 11 rebounds to go with three blocks for the Anteaters in the nonconference game on Saturday.
Irene Chavez drained three three-pointers and ended the game with 13 points, Mckenzie Piper added seven points and six rebounds while Shereen Sutherland recorded seven rebounds to go with three points for UCI (1-2).
UNLV is 3-0.
UCI will compete in the Loyola Marymount Thanksgiving Classic Friday and Saturday. The Anteaters will battle nationally-ranked Princeton Friday at 1 p.m. in Gersten Pavilion.
