Asia Kleinmeyer and Madison Cody Farell scored second-half goals to lead the host Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Thursday.
Natalie DeVries had an assist and Kaycee Smith had one save to preserve the shutout for No. 13-ranked Vanguard (12-4-1, 6-2-1 in conference).
Menlo, which had a 25-2 deficit in shots, fell to 8-6-4, 4-5-1.

Luke Kadillak converted a penalty kick in the 41st minute to lead the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference home game Thursday.
Brandon Gomez had three saves to post the shutout and help the No. 13-ranked Lions improve to 13-3, 7-2 in conference.
Menlo is 8-6-3, 2-5-3.

Long Beach State def. UC Irvine
Harlee Kekauoha led the Anteaters with 15 kills, but the 49ers won the Big West Conference match, 26-24, 25-13, 17-25, 25-15, Thursday night.
Ella Rosenfeld and Lena Latour added 12 kills each for UCI (10-12, 4-6 in Big West.
Luna Tsujimoto led four Anteaters in double-digit digs with 16.
Long Beach State is 18-5, 8-2.

Pacific Invitational
STOCKTON — UC Irvine sophomore David Kim seized the individual lead at the opening round on Thursday at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.
Lim shot two-under-par 69 and was one of just two players to break par in the windy conditions.
UCI shares third place with Pacific and Sacramento State at 299, seven shots behind Long Beach State in the 16-school field.
The event continues Friday and Saturday.
