High School Roundup: Sage Hill boys’ soccer out of playoffs

LA CANADA — Toby Bush scored in the 23rd minute for the Lightning in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs on the road Wednesday.

Sage Hill (11-9-1), the runner-up finisher from the Academy League, gave up three straight goals after taking a 1-0 lead.

Flintridge Prep, an at-large entry from the Prep League, plays host to Rancho Mirage in the quarterfinals on Friday.

BOYS’ TENNIS

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior Bjorn Hoffmann swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Wednesday’s nonleague match at Marina High.

Pedro Fernandez and Kyle Pham each won two singles sets for CdM (2-0).

The Sea Kings also beat San Clemente, 15-3, in their season opener Tuesday at home. Hoffmann, Fernandez and Pham combined to win eight of nine singles sets, while Oliver Kim and John Hart won twice at No. 1 doubles.

CdM plays at Peninsula on Tuesday.
