Estancia girls’ soccer edges Laguna Beach

Emily Rodriguez and Bryanna Perez each scored first-half goals for the Eagles in Monday’s Orange Coast League game at Jim Scott Stadium.

Rodriguez scored on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute and Perez struck in the 36th minute for Estancia (12-5-4, 6-1-2 in league). Coach Josh Juarez also credited Daniela Serpa and Lexi Osso for bringing energy off the bench toward the end of the half.

Laguna Beach, ranked No. 10 in CIF Southern Section Division 5, fell to 6-2-1 in league.

Calvary Chapel (6-0-3 in league), ranked No. 7 in Division 5, leads the league with 21 points headed into Wednesday’s league finales. Estancia has 20 points and Laguna Beach has 19. Estancia plays Godinez at 5 p.m. at Santa Ana Sports Complex, while Calvary Chapel plays at Laguna Beach.

Estancia can win the outright league title if it beats Godinez and Laguna Beach ties or beats Calvary Chapel.
