San Marcos’ Paige Hauschild scored the game-winning goal with 1:32 left in sudden-death overtime in the Irvine Southern California Championships quarterfinal game Friday night at CdM.
The final score was the first lead of the game for San Marcos, which trailed 5-2 at halftime. Hauschild had five goals for the No. 3-seeded Royals, who earned their third win over the Sea Kings this season, the last two coming in sudden-death overtime.
Jaleh Moaddeli had three goals and three steals for CdM (15-8). Chloe Harbilas had two goals and three steals, and Sophie Wallace (four steals), Sarah Lawson (two assists) and Emily Ritner (two steals) also scored.
Heidi Ritner made nine saves for CdM, which plays El Toro in a tournament fifth-place semifinal Saturday at 9 a.m. at Irvine’s Woollett Aquatics Center.

San Clemente 10, Newport Harbor 9
Jessica Lynch had four goals, an assist and a steal for the Sailors in Friday’s Irvine Southern California Championships consolation game at CdM.
Sammie Garcia had two goals and two assists for Newport Harbor (9-15), while Katie Kearns, Lissa Westerman and Josie Miller also scored. Maddy Kanzler made three saves and added three steals.
Newport Harbor plays in a tournament 13th-place semifinal Saturday at 9 a.m. at Irvine’s Woollett Aquatics Center.
