CdM’s Dunk wins Costa Mesa Open tennis tournament title
Corona del Mar High junior Jasie Dunk won the girls’ 18s title at the Costa Mesa Open tennis tournament on Wednesday at Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
Dunk, the No. 2-seeded player, beat top-seeded Colbey-Shae Emery of Ventura, 6-4, 6-0, in the title match. She also outlasted No. 3-seeded Julia Ronney of San Diego, 6-1, 6-7, 10-7, in the semifinals.
It is the first 18s tournament title for Dunk, who helped the CdM girls’ tennis team win the Pacific Coast League and advance back to the CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinals this past fall. Dunk and teammate Siena Sharf made the quarterfinals at the CIF Individuals doubles tournament.
Also at the Costa Mesa Open tournament, Newport Beach resident Andre Saleh made the boys’ 18 singles final. Saleh, the top seed, fell to No. 3-seeded Michael Bott of San Clemente, 6-1, 6-0, in the title match.
Former CdM standout Alec Adamson made the Costa Mesa men’s open doubles final with partner Adam Levie of Rancho Santa Fe. Adamson and Levie, the No. 4 seeds, lost to Garrett Auproux of Studio City and Gregory Garcia of Poway, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8, in the title match.
Adamson and Levie both play college tennis for UC Davis, where Adamson was on the All-Big West first team for singles and second team for doubles last year as a sophomore.
