Newport Beach voters will have a chance during Thursday’s Wake Up Newport forum to learn more about 17 statewide propositions before they cast their votes next month.

California voters will be asked to decide on a plethora of issues Nov.8, including education bonds, income tax increases, taxes on tobacco products, marijuana legalization and the death penalty.

Bryan Starr, senior vice president of the Orange County Business Council, will share his group’s thoughts on how the propositions could affect businesses in the county. Starr oversees all aspects of external affairs for the council, including public affairs, government relations and advocacy at the state, federal and local levels.
