Chilly temperatures and slick roads brought on by pounding rain greeted morning commuters early Monday.

Forecasters said Monday’s weather is the second of two storms that brought cooler temperatures, wind and rain to Orange County beginning Saturday night and into early Sunday. The weekend storm brought less than two-thirds of an inch of rain throughout most of Orange County.

Monday’s storm, which also delivered thunder and lightening, is expected to last through the day and into the evening before dissipating, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will remain in the mid-to high 50s and low 60s Monday with winds blowing west between 20 and 30 miles per hour with the strongest gusts along the coast.

The National Weather Service also issued a high surf warning Monday, which indicated that strong waves will pound the shoreline until Tuesday resulting in “dangerous swimming conditions and deadly rip currents,” according to the NWS.

Forecasters expect the rain to let up by Tuesday, making way for warmer temperatures Wednesday and Thursday.
