A man who was pulled from his Huntington Beach mobile home during an early-morning fire Wednesday has died, authorities said.

Huntington Beach firefighters responded just after 2:20 a.m. to a blaze at Huntington Mobile Estates at 7652 Garfield Ave.

When crews arrived, flames and heavy smoke were billowing out of one of the home’s windows, according to Battalion Chief Jeff Lopez.

A neighbor told fire crews that an “elderly” resident might be inside, and firefighters immediately pulled the man from the blaze, Lopez said.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, authorities said. He was not immediately identified.

Twenty-four firefighters from several agencies extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire, which caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the home, is under investigation, Lopez said.
