New Montessori school in Costa Mesa will host open house
The newly opened Heritage Montessori school in Costa Mesa is accepting enrollment for children ages 2 to 9 and will hold an open house from noon to 2 p.m. on Jan. 14.
The school property, at 2032 Orange Ave., previously known as the Westcliff Early Childhood Center, was purchased in March.
The facility underwent a few facelifts in order to reopen as Heritage Montessori, but many pieces of the Westcliff campus remain, including a loft in one of the classrooms and a fireplace.
New features are planned, including a barn and an outdoor splash area.
The Eastside Costa Mesa site is one of three Heritage Montessori locations in Orange County. The others are in Huntington Beach and Lake Forest. They too are enrolling students and offering tours. For more information, visit heritagemontessori.com.
Mother and daughter open Etsy store
Newport Beach resident Linda Gerlt and daughter Katie recently opened an Etsy store, Artistique Studios.
The online store specializes in custom jewelry, accessories and fine-art note cards. Katie, 18, attends Corona del Mar High School.
The Gerlts say they are donating $6 to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach for each box of the sea-life note cards sold, according to an announcement on their Etsy site.
Property management company wins accreditation
Costa Mesa-based South Coast Property Management has been named an accredited community management business, or ACMB, by the California Assn. of Community Managers.
The ACMB is the highest level of achievement for community association management businesses and places South Coast Property Management among the most elite companies in the nation.
Since 2003, South Coast Property Management has been providing management services to community associations throughout Orange County.
In addition, South Coast Principal Scott Smith was awarded a portfolio management specialty certificate and designation, recognizing his knowledge and expertise in simultaneously managing multiple, unrelated homeowner communities, according to a news release.
Smith holds the community association management executive, or CAMEx, designation — the only California-specific designation in the industry that certifies a community manager’s knowledge and expertise in California law, ethical standards and best practices in governing homeowners associations.
Surf City welcomes new 24 Hour Fitness
A 24 Hour Fitness in Huntington Beach recently held its grand opening.
The 33,500-square-foot club is at 9051 Atlanta Ave.
“24 Hour Fitness makes it our mission to deliver innovative fitness options to our members while striving to bring together the local community,” Clayton Benton, general manager, said in a statement. “The new Huntington Beach club is just one part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Realtor named to Laguna chamber board
Chris Tebbutt, a sales associate with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties, was recently elected to the board of directors of the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce, according to a news release.
“Chris’ architecture background will provide helpful insight into the issues and potential of the Downtown Strategic Plan for Laguna Beach, and he will work to increase local business-to-business exchanges to promote commerce within the city,” Jim Vermilya, branch manager of the Laguna Beach office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties, said in a statement.
Tebbutt holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and has worked with cities including San Francisco and Phoenix on downtown neighborhood revitalization plans.
“As a Laguna Beach Realtor and resident, I am a champion of the ‘sweet spot’ our city is trying to achieve and sustain between tourism revenues for businesses and the quality of life for residents,” Tebbutt said in a statement.
Bixby acquires Oregon office complex
Bixby Land Co., a Newport Beach-based investor, recently bought an office complex in Oregon for $33.4 million, according to a news release.
CDK Plaza, at 2525 S.W. 1st Ave. in Portland, has 185,729 square feet of office space spread over four stories and two buildings. It will be upgraded next year with new lobbies, corridors, landscaping and more, the release said.
“The improvements we have planned will make this office campus much more appealing to companies looking for a progressive work environment,” Mike Severson, senior vice president of investments at Bixby Land Co., said in a statement.
Delphi has new Costa Mesa headquarters
Delphi Display Systems Inc., a Costa Mesa-based company that provides customized digital signage hardware, software and service solutions to businesses to attract customers, is relocating its corporate offices to another part of the city.
The company had been at 3160 Pullman St., near John Wayne Airport, and is moving in January to in the Harbor Gateway Business Park, at 3550 Hyland Ave.
“Our new headquarters will have expanded space for research and development labs, training facilities and open collaboration areas,” Ken Neeld, president and CEO of Delphi, said in a statement.
PIMCO names new N.Y.-based executive
Newport Beach-based Pacific Investment Management Co., commonly known as PIMCO, recently named Jeffrey Thompson as an executive vice president and portfolio manager for its commercial real estate team, according to a news release.
Thompson will be based in New York. He previously worked at Annaly Capital Management as a managing director.
Ruby’s Diner to open 33rd restaurant
The Ruby’s Diner chain, based and founded in Newport Beach, is opening its 33rd restaurant — at the Outlets at San Clemente center — in January, according to a news release.
The company is also reopening at the Laguna Hills Mall. It will be near Macy’s and will feature a new patio and extensive interior renovations, according to a news release.
Casey Cupcakes closing in Newport, H.B.
Casey’s Cupcakes, founded by former “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” cast member Casey Reinhardt, has closed its locations in Huntington Beach’s Bella Terra and Newport Beach’s Fashion Island.
The company plans to focus more on its stores in Riverside and Irvine and enhance its shipping services, according to the Orange County Register.
An upscale menswear brand will be replacing Casey’s Cupcakes at Fashion Island, the Register reported.
