Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue names Firefighter of Year and other honorees
Firefighters and staff members of Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue were acknowledged recently for outstanding contributions in the past year.
Capt. Shawn Brosamer was chosen Firefighter of the Year by his peers. The 28-year department veteran served as an arson investigator for more than half his career.
“Capt. Brosamer is well-deserving of this honor and represents the organization and serves the community in a manner that is to be commended,” Fire Chief Dan Stefano said in a statement.
Battalion Chief Kevin Diamond was selected Manager of the Year, Dottie Garrett Volunteer of the Year, Lora Ross Civilian of the Year, Kevin Vucinic Fire Intern of the Year and Thien Nguyen Fire Explorer of the Year.
The department’s community risk reduction and fire prevention staff was selected Team of the Year, and the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce and the South Coast Metro Alliance were recognized for community partnership efforts.
Recently retired Deputy Chief Fred Seguin received a special tribute.
“Chief Seguin has served above and beyond the call of duty, and we are grateful for his plethora of contributions that span three decades,” Stefano said.
