Costa Mesa gets grant to help repair Fairview Road
Costa Mesa’s public services department recently captured a federal grant to help pay for improvements to Fairview Road.
The Highway Safety Improvement Program funds, totaling $630,540, will be used on the 0.3-mile section of Fairview between Adams Avenue and Baker Street.
The project will involve installing a new pedestrian and cyclist crosswalk and new medians that would prohibit difficult left-turn movements from Fairview’s commercial developments. It will also add a new traffic signal at entrance of the Villa Siena apartment complex.
City Hall will match the grant by 10%.
Design of the project is expected to be completed in fiscal 2016-17, which begins in July. Construction could begin in fiscal 2017-18.
