Sanitary District will collect Christmas trees
The Costa Mesa Sanitary District is collecting Christmas trees for recycling, beginning Monday through Jan. 15.
The trees will be turned into mulch that’s used locally and in other parts of California.
Ratepayers are asked to place their trees on the ground, next to their collection carts. They will be picked up with the carts on regular trash days.
The trees should not have any remaining tinsel, ornaments or be attached to stands.
They also must be no taller than six feet. If taller than six feet, the district requires the tree be cut in half to be eligible for the recycling collection.
For more information, call the sanitary district at (949) 645-8400.
