Fire from strung-together adapters for Christmas lights does $100,000 damage at Irvine home
A string of adapters used to power Christmas lights sparked a blaze at an Irvine home Tuesday night, according to fire officials.
The fire broke out about 7:25 p.m. in the garage of a two-story home on Fillmore near Burke, the Orange County Fire Authority said.
Three multi-plug power adapters were daisy-chained together in the garage, and one of them failed, sparking the blaze, according to the fire authority.
Officials warned that power adapters should never be strung together and should only be plugged directly into an outlet.
Flames also spread to an upstairs bedroom in the house before about 30 firefighters got the blaze under control by 8:20 p.m., according to the fire authority.
The fire caused more than $100,000 in damage and displaced four adult residents, fire officials said.
No one was hurt.
