Replica gun causes lockdown at Woodbridge High
A replica firearm locked in a student’s car sparked a brief lockdown at Woodbridge High School in Irvine on Tuesday morning, according to Irvine police.
Officers responded around 10:15 a.m. to a call about a suspicious object that someone saw in a car in the school’s parking lot, Police Department spokeswoman Farrah Emami said.
Police quickly determined that the item was a replica air gun that posed no danger, Emami said.
The lockdown was lifted within 15 minutes, she added.
Emami said police are communicating with the student and his family but declined to provide details because he is a minor.
