Firefighters heat up the fashion catwalk for charity
Members of the Costa Mesa Fire Department put on a fashion show Saturday at South Coast Plaza.
The event at Bloomingdale’s raised money for two groups that assist Children’s Hospital of Orange County. A percentage of sales from the store on Saturday will benefit the Glass Slipper Guild and Heels2Heal Orange County.
Holsteins restaurant also donated a percentage of its dining checks to benefit CHOC.
Fourteen Costa Mesa firefighters strutted their stuff alongside two firefighters from Corona at the fourth annual event, which organizer Paul Kim, a Costa Mesa Fire Department engineer, said has grown each year.
About 200 people came to the event, he said. The firefighters modeled fall and winter fashions. Thirteen current and former CHOC patients also participated.
In the final number, firefighters wore nearly all their fire gear, from their boots to their helmets, Kim said.
