Police: Homeless woman attacks pizza workers with hook and chain when they won’t give her food
A homeless woman used a hook and rusty chain to attack employees at a pizza shop when they wouldn’t give her free food Monday evening, according to Costa Mesa police.
The woman went into a Papa John’s in the 500 block of West 19th Street about 5:35 p.m. and said she needed free food because she didn’t have any money, police Sgt. Dan Miles said.
When the employees refused, she became verbally abusive, then took out a 4-foot-long chain with a hook on the end and began swinging it at them, Miles said.
The employees avoided being hit, and one called 911, Miles said.
While the employee was on the phone, the homeless woman slapped the phone out of his hand, causing it to break, according to police.
She then left the store, and shortly afterward officers found a woman matching her description in a nearby shopping center, police said.
Fabiola Consider, 48, of Costa Mesa was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, assault and battery and disabling a cellular communications device, Miles said.
Police did not immediately have information about Consider’s bail or whether the employee she is suspected of striking was injured.
Since 2014, Consider has pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors, including battery and obstructing police, according to court records.
Most recently, she pleaded guilty in November to a misdemeanor count of elder abuse and was sentenced to 60 days in jail, court documents show.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department records show she was released from jail Saturday.
