OCC poinsettia sale adds some color to the season

Holiday decorators looking for a splash of color turned out Friday at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa as the school’s horticulture department presented its 38th annual poinsettia sale.

Every year, OCC horticulture classes grow and sell thousands of red and white poinsettias to raise money for the department. This year, students and faculty produced nearly 12,000 plants to sell, organizers said.

Plant buyers could pick up poinsettias for $5 to $45.
