Santa lights up the bay

Guests came ready to walk off the Thanksgiving turkey and for some Christmas cheer at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort’s 26th annual Lighting of the Bay.

Santa Claus, the event’s guest of honor, flipped the switch Friday evening to illuminate dozens of floating “trees” and other decorations on the water.

The lighting also included food, a magician, puppet shows, live music and a screening of “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Newport Dunes has opened its Christmas Tree Farm from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily through Dec. 24.
