Biz News: Alaska Airlines to add JWA service to Santa Rosa and Reno

Alaska Airlines plans to add service from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport to Santa Rosa/Sonoma County and Reno/Tahoe starting March 16.

To introduce the service, Alaska is offering one-way fares starting at $79. To get the introductory prices, customers must buy their tickets by Monday and travel by June 8.

Newport restaurant raises $10,000 for St. Jude

In a month-long philanthropic initiative called “Chowder for a Cause,” Fly ‘N’ Fish Oyster Bar & Grill in Newport Beach raised $10,000 to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The proceeds from every bowl of New England clam chowder sold during October went to the cause.

“We’re very focused on giving back to our community and helping others, and we couldn’t be happier with how many of our guests supported ‘Chowder for a Cause,’” restaurant owners and brothers Rick and Steve Loomis said in a statement.

Luxury watch brand opens boutique in South Coast Plaza

A. Lange & Söhne, a German luxury watch brand, has opened its first California boutique at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.

The Oct. 15 opening included a cocktail reception featuring new timepieces from the Watches & Wonders event held in January in Hong Kong.

Costa Mesa’s Ju-Ju-Be holding diaper bag drive

Costa Mesa-based diaper bag manufacturer Ju-Ju-Be is holding a bag drive this month to benefit Baby Buggy, a nonprofit dedicated to providing baby clothing and other products for families in need.

“All diaper bags donated through the drive will go to support Baby Buggy’s Baby Shower program in Los Angeles, a project created to provide new moms in low-income communities with special care packages that make them feel proud about their journey into parenthood,” Carly Harrill, director of Baby Buggy Los Angeles, said in a statement.

Throughout November, Ju-Ju-Be will collect new and gently used bags at its office at 940 W. 17th St. in Costa Mesa.
