Red Hill bridge to be rebuilt
The California Department of Transportation is planning to rebuild the Red Hill Avenue bridge that passes over the 405 Freeway, at the edge of the Costa Mesa city limits.
The effort is needed to replace failing earth walls for the bridge, among other issues, Caltrans officials said in a news release this summer.
A Caltrans spokeswoman said Tuesday that the work is expected to begin in December or January. The completion date is spring 2017.
For the last several months, one southbound lane along the Red Hill Avenue bridge has been closed as part of the state’s assessment of the bridge’s condition, according to Caltrans.
