An Irvine woman died Saturday after she fell from a cliff overlooking a secluded beach in Corona del Mar, according to police.

The Orange County coroner’s office identified her Monday as Shahin Eyvazi, 65.

Eyvazi plummeted 30 to 40 feet from the ridge above Pirate’s Cove shortly before 10:35 a.m., said Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella.

More than a dozen rescuers including firefighters, lifeguards and a Sheriff’s Department Harbor Patrol crew responded to the beach and found Eyvazi unconscious on the sand, according to police.

The workers provided life support and used the Harbor Patrol boat to take her to a nearby dock, Manzella said.

From there, she was taken by ambulance to a trauma center, where she died shortly after arrival, Manzella said.

She was pronounced dead at 11:32 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.
