Biz News: South Coast Plaza hosts Rolex awards exhibit
South Coast Plaza is hosting the first exhibition of photographs and documentary films from the Rolex Awards for Enterprise.
The exhibit runs Thursday through June 8 on the Costa Mesa mall’s second level, near Carousel Court, at 3333 Bristol St.
The Rolex Awards for Enterprise were launched in 1976. They support “inspiring individuals who carry out innovative projects that advance human knowledge or well-being,” according to the awards’ website.

Hoag receives robotic surgery accreditation
Hoag Hospital, based in Newport Beach, recently received a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery accreditation from the Surgical Review Corp.
“The designation recognizes hospitals and surgeons who demonstrate an unparalleled commitment and ability to consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care,” Hoag said in a news release. “The program is structured to help robotic surgery providers continuously improve care quality and patient safety.”¿
Hoag was the first hospital in Southern California to employ robot-assisted surgery. The robots are used at Hoag’s Newport Beach and Irvine campuses.

Bank names new senior vice president
Pacific Mercantile Bank has named J.C. Timmons as senior vice president and regional manager for the bank’s Costa Mesa regional office, 949 S. Coast Drive.
Timmons has more than 15 years of banking experience and most recently was a division manager for Bridge Bank. He is a graduate of UC Davis and the University of Colorado.
