O.C. water supply and conservation are topics of Wake Up Newport on Thursday
Robert Hunter, general manager of the Municipal Water District of Orange County, will attend Thursday’s Wake Up Newport event to discuss the county’s performance in water conservation efforts mandated by the state and what’s on the horizon regarding California’s years-long drought.
The State Water Resources Control Board has been keeping a close eye on water districts and cities statewide as it continues to urge residents to cut their water consumption.
Hunter is expected to speak about where Orange County gets its water supply, how much the county has conserved during the drought and what the public should expect in coming months.
The Municipal Water District is a wholesale water supplier and planning agency that serves all of Orange County, except Anaheim, Fullerton and Santa Ana, through 28 retail water agencies.
Wake Up Newport, presented by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, will begin with a complimentary continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m. in the Friends Room at the Newport Beach Public Library, 1000 Avocado Ave..
