2 motorcycle riders seriously hurt in crash with car in Newport
A man and a woman were hospitalized Tuesday after their motorcycle collided with a car in Newport Beach, according to police.
The motorcycle was headed north on MacArthur Boulevard about 4:30 p.m. when a car traveling south on MacArthur turned left in front of it at Harbor View Drive, according to Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella.
The two vehicles collided, throwing both riders from the motorcycle, according to police.
Paramedics took the man and the woman to a hospital for treatment of major injuries, Manzella said. The car’s driver was not injured, according to police.
Police are investigating what caused the crash, but Manzella said drugs, alcohol and excessive speed do not appear to be factors.
