The shooting occurred shortly before 9 p.m. in an alley behind The Boulevard bar and Goat Hill Tavern in the 1800 block of Newport Boulevard, police said.

Based on witness reports, Fyad said, police officers were able to find two suspects in the area of the 73 Freeway and Bear Street. Officers stopped a vehicle and arrested two men and recovered a handgun, Fyad said.

The investigation is continuing, Fyad said, and no further information was released.
