Around Town: Celebrity interior designer joins Miracles for Kids board
Miracles for Kids, an Orange County-based nonprofit that serves children facing life-threatening illnesses, announced the appointment of celebrity interior designer and author Kelli Ellis to its board of directors.
Ellis, whose designs have been featured on TLC, HGTV and Bravo, began her work with Miracles for Kids in 2015 when she volunteered as lead interior designer for the construction of Miracle Manor, a 12-unit housing facility for families with children receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Ellis worked with families to design customized interiors for each of the apartments.

Roger’s Gardens’ Day of Art to host 50 artists
Roger’s Gardens in Corona del Mar will present the fourth annual Day of Art on Saturday, featuring 50 artists who will paint and draw their interpretations of the gardens for the day.
The 50 original artworks will be judged for awards.
A painting by each participating artist will be on display and available for purchase.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Roger’s Gardens, 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road.

New bus route serving Costa Mesa gets OCTA approval
A new bus route running from Costa Mesa to Santa Ana was approved Monday by the Orange County Transportation Authority board as one of several changes to the 2016 bus service plan intended to increase ridership.
The new Route 150 will cover major portions of Routes 51 and 145 that are being eliminated, according to the OCTA. It would provide direct service to Santa Ana College and other nearby schools, the agency said.
OCTA will begin implementing the adopted changes in June. For more information about the bus service plan, visit octa.net/2016busplan.

Project Hope Alliance names director of development, communications
Costa Mesa-based Project Hope Alliance welcomed new Director of Development & Communications Suzy Gardner to its team.
Gardner has nearly 20 years of nonprofit development and management experience, the group said.
Project Hope Alliance also announced that Ray Weston Jr. and Nicole Cross have joined its board of directors.
Weston is the global chief legal officer and vice president of international business affairs at Taco Bell Corp. in Irvine.
Cross is director of general affairs at Hudson Jeans, a Commerce-based apparel company.
