Pet of the Week: Roxie

Suzanne had no idea that by taking a cat just a month ago from a dear, 94-year-old friend who has since died that she would soon find herself homeless and the cat needing help again.

Roxie and many other cats like her who belong to seniors face a similar problem — where will the animal live when the owner dies?

Everyone would like to believe that the family will care enough about the relatives’ animals and lend some help other than settling the estate. However, Community Animal Network’s rescue calls point to most family members of the deceased calling for assistance for animals left behind. The relatives may be overwhelmed with tasks, in town for just a brief period or in charge of their own pets.

Roxie is a chocolate point Siamese who is loveable and good lap cat. Suzanne says the cat, who is 14, is intelligent and loves massages and her wand toy.

Roxie needs a new home or a foster family willing to house her temporarily, or she could . be turned over to a municipal or county shelter.
