The Charger Spring Baseball Camp starts April 9 at Edison High.

The two-day camp, also scheduled for April 10, is designed for youth ages nine-to-14 (pre-high school) and runs from 9 a.m. to noon both days. Basic skills will be covered by Edison baseball coach Cameron Chinn, Edison assistant coach John Gonsalves, plus other Chargers coaches and players.

The cost is $80 per camper and participants are asked to bring a glove, hat, bat, baseballs shoes and beverages. Each camper will receive an Edison baseball T-shirt.

Summer throwing camps also will be held at the school.

For more information, write Chinn at [email protected], or call (562) 233-2908.

The camp is not affiliated with Edison High or the Huntington Beach Union High School District.

AVP announces tourney schedule

The Assn. of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) announced its 2015 beach volleyball tournament schedule Tuesday. Four new cities will host tournaments during the seven-event nationwide tour that starts in May and ends in September with the AVP Championships at the Huntington Beach Pier.

The tournament returns to Huntington, Cincinnati and Manhattan Beach, with New Orleans, Seattle, Chicago, and a yet-to-be-announced city new stops on this year’s tour schedule.

The AVP Manhattan Beach Open, in its 56th year this summer, is the longest-running tournament in the sport.

Tickets for 2015 AVP tournaments will go on sale in the coming weeks, and information will be available at https://www.AVP.com.

The 10th annual Moose Invitational Golf Tournament is set for June 22.

Last year’s event raised $18,500 for the Fountain Valley High football program and the Michael Musso Memorial Fund. Each year, a scholarship is given to a four-year Baron football player.

Tournament registration cost is $150 prior to April 30, and $175 starting May 1. The tournament has sold out three of the last four years. The tournament is seeking silent auction or raffle-prize donations.
