Andy Ceja converted a free kick from about 18 yards out in the 62nd minute to propel the visiting Eagles in the Orange Coast League opener on Wednesday at Jim Scott Stadium.
Enrique Raya had five saves to preserve the seventh shutout of the season for the Eagles (8-3-2, 1-0 in league), ranked No. 9 in CIF Southern Section Division 5.
Costa Mesa is 0-7-2, 0-1.
Estancia visits Laguna Beach on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Newport Harbor 17, Fountain Valley 2
The Sailors used three different goalies in Wednesday’s Sunset League game at Newport Harbor High.
Cleo Harrington played goalie in the first half, making five saves before playing in the field and scoring twice. Carlee Kapana, usually a goalie, also played in the field and scored three goals, while Isabel Leveque (two goals) also Christina O’Beck (one goal) played goalie in the second half, combining for eight saves.
Ellie Reid also scored three goals for the Sailors (10-2, 2-0 in league), ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 1. Newport Harbor plays in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions that begins on Friday.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Sailors junior Chase Davis had career-high totals of 22 points and six three-pointers in the Sunset League game Wednesday at Edison High.
Senior Nic Sargeant added 11 for Newport Harbor (10-8, 1-1 in league), which plays host to Fountain Valley on Friday.

Newport senior team captain Andrew Craft recorded a pin at 145 pounds in Wednesday’s Sunset League match at Newport Harbor High.
Sophomore Dominic Komadina also had a pin at 126 points for Newport Harbor, which fell to (3-8, 0-2 in league.
