WOMEN’S SOCCER

Vanguard 5, Soka 0

ALISO VIEJO — Jennifer Martin scored two goals and had one assist for the No. 2-ranked Lions in the nonconference match Friday.

Ashley McCutcheon contributed one goal and two assists, while Jordan Davidson and Veronica Aguilar added one goal each for Vanguard (7-0).

Asia Kleinmeyer had one assist for the Lions.

Soka is 4-3-1.

Orange Coast 1, Santa Ana 0

Shelle Zito scored the game-winner in the final seconds of the first half to give the Pirates the Orange Empire Conference win Friday.

Danielle Dapello had the asist for OCC (4-1-2, 2-1-1 in conference), while goalie Emily Harrier made two saves.

Santa Ana is 2-6-1, 0-3-1.

The Pirates play at Saddleback Tuesday at 3 p.m.

MEN’S SOCCER

UC Irvine 3, Bakersfield 0

BAKERSFIELD — Enrique Cardenas scored two goals and had an assist for the Anteaters in the nonconference match Friday night.

Cameron Iwasa contributed one goal and one assist, while goalie Michael Breslin made five saves for UCI (5-2-2).

Bakersfield is 2-4-1.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Cal Poly def. UC Irvine

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Marisa Bubica had eights kills for the Anteaters in the Big West Conference opener Friday night.

The Mustangs won 25-22, 25-18, 25-11.

Arielle Manz chipped in five kills to go along with a team-leading four block assists, while Shelley Anderson owned the top hitting percentage at .429, putting away three of seven attempts while dishing out 22 assists and Arden Davis picked a match-high 13 digs for UCI (9-6, 0-1 in conference).

Cal Poly is 7-7, 1-0.
