Water Polo: CdM team takes second
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA — Corona del Mar High incoming senior Matt Sherburne recorded four goals in regulation, but it wasn’t enough to lift the 12th-seeded CdM Polo B boys’ team to an upset win against top-seeded South Coast in the USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics under-18 classic final at Santa Margarita High on Tuesday.
The teams went straight into a shootout after the score was tied at 5-5 at the end of regulation and South Coast won the shootout, 5-3.

In the championship match, Jay Neiger had a goal and goalie Ryan Hamm made 18 saves for CdM.
CdM’s Logan Piper finished with three assists and Charlie Rodosky had two steals and an assist. Kirby Morrow had an assist.
