High School Baseball: Estancia, Sage open with wild-card games
The Estancia High and Sage Hill School baseball teams are the lone survivors/playoff squads from the Newport-Mesa area.
Both teams were assigned Tuesday wild-card games when CIF Southern Section playoff pairings were released Monday. Games are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.
In Division 4, Estancia (16-9), the Orange Coast League third-place team will play at Montebello (15-9), the Almont League second-place team.
The winner will play at South Torrance (17-10, Pioneer League champion) in Friday’s first round.
Westlake Village Oaks Christian (24-3), the Tri-Valley League champion, is the division’s top seed.
In Division 6, Sage Hill (13-6, Academy League No. 3) plays host to Panorama City St. Genevieve (7-7, Santa Fe League No. 3).
The winner plays at Lancaster Desert Christian (13-5, Desert Mountain League champion) in Friday’s first round.
Bermuda Dunes Desert Christian Academy (24-2), the Victory League champion, is the division’s top seed.
