LA MIRADA – Nicole Ballestero scored 20 points to help the undefeated Lions improve to 9-0 after the Biola Holiday Classic victory Saturday.

Esther Timmermans scored 14 points, Maya Kennedy had 10 points and Maree Drennan grabbed 12 rebounds for Vanguard.

Victoria BC is 6-6.

Ventura 74, Orange Coast 58

VENTURA — Michelle Angel had 18 points for the Pirates in the semifinal game of the Ventura tournament Saturday at Ventura College.

Jenna Arnett and Dayanara Armenta each added 11 points for OCC (8-7).

The Pirates play L.A. Valley in the tournament third-place game at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Vanguard 83, La Sierra 75

COSTA MESA — Taylor Kelly scored 18 points to lead five Lions in double figures in the nonconference game Saturday.

Ennis Whatley Jr. and Noel Larkins added 15 points each, Chris Gorman scored 14 points and Preston Wynne had 13 points and seven assists and five steals for Vanguard (10-4).

La Sierra is 3-14.
