CdM trio earn All-CIF honors
Corona del Mar High seniors Parker Brown, Joe Ctvrtlik and Jack Reed were each named to the All-CIF Southern Section Division 2 boys’ volleyball team after leading the Sea Kings to their second straight CIF Southern Section Division 2 title appearance.
The three players are the only locals earning All-CIF honors this season.
The trio tried to lift CdM to back-to-back section crowns for the first time in the program’s storied history. The Pacific Coast League champion Sea Kings (25-7, 10-0 in league) lost to Oak Park in four sets.
Brown, an outside hitter, led the Sea Kings with 408 kills, to go along with 102 digs, 44 service aces and 21 blocks. He is a repeat All-CIF pick.
Brown, who shared the Pacific Coast League MVP, is being courted by USC, Ohio State, UC Irvine and Pepperdine.
Ctvrtlik, a setter bound for Stanford, recorded 891 assists, 61 digs, 56 blocks, 22 kills and 20 aces. He shared the league MVP award with Brown.
Reed, a middle blocker headed for UC Santa Barbara, was named the MVP of the Dave Mohs Memorial Orange County Boys’ High School All-Star Match in which he, Brown and Ctvrtlik represented the South team.
Reed also earned first-team all-league honors.
