Anteaters recognized

Senior women’s soccer standout Lexi Kopf is among 18 UC Irvine athletes who received Big West Conference All-Academic honors in fall sports.

Kopf, a first-team All-Big West performer who scored 11 goals to help the Anteaters claim the conference regular-season title, was joined by women’s soccer honorees Devon Delarosa and Janelly Farias, both juniors.

Women’s volleyball had six representatives, including juniors Kristin Winkler, Taylor Smith and Marissa Alvarez. Sophomores Aly Squires, Shannon Flemming and Mary Carls were also recognized.

Seniors Chloe Fata, Shelly Foerster and Maddy Post represented the women’s cross country team, as did junior Courtney Wilson and sophomore Mary Follo.

Men’s cross country was represented by seniors Brennan Halliday, Ryan McMonigle and Trevor Smith.

Sophomore Victory Calderon was the lone honoree from the men’s soccer team.

To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average, must have previously completed one full academic year and played in at least half of their team’s contests.
