Locals take runner-up honors
The North Huntington Beach Soccer girls’ Under-10 team earned a second-place finish in the 2011 Coast Soccer League’s Silver Central division. The team began the season with two losses but rallied to win all but one of its remaining games in the season. By finishing second in the division, the team qualified for promotion to the Silver Elite division for 2012. The Silver Elite division is the top division for girls’ U11 and open to the top seven teams in the Coast Soccer League, NHB girls’ U10 Coach Cameron Beaulac said.
This fall, NHB advanced to the elite eight of the league cup (77 teams competed in the tournament) and along the way defeated Celtic, champion of the Silver East division. The team resumes play in January and will compete in February at the Sate Cup.
The NHB girls’ U10 team is: Megan Larson, Diana Naughton, Abby Edwards, Camille Heidelbaugh, Katie Freeman, Maddy Alaluf, Lori Mandarino, Delaney Trounce, Trinity Rodman, Cecelia Odou, Alexis Beaulac, Peyton Kassouf and Jayd Sprague.
For tryout information for the 2012 team, email Cameron Beaulac at [email protected].
