NEWPORT BEACH — Cinnamon Sary had 19 kills and two digs to help the Sailors to a 25-14, 25-22, 25-17 second-round win in the CIF Southern Section Division I-AA playoffs Thursday.
Carolyn Bockrath had eight kills and two blocks, Kasey Thompson had five kills and five blocks and Torey Thompson had 35 assists for Newport Harbor (23-8). Claire Castillo (four kills, two blocks), Tatum Norton (five digs), Hunter Jennings (three digs) and Allison Schelin (two kills) also contributed for the Sailors.
Newport Harbor will play host to Orange Lutheran in the quarterfinals Saturday, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Orange Lutheran beat Mira Costa in five sets, but lost the coin flip to the Sailors.

Sage Hill def. Desert Hot Springs
NEWPORT COAST — Senior setter Alayna Lewis had nine service aces, four kills, six digs and 15 assists in helping the Lightning sweep the CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA second-round match Thursday at Sage Hill.
Sage Hill won, 25-9, 25-14, 25-14. Coach Dan Thomassen said it was Lewis’ best match of the season. Freshman outside hitter Halland McKenna (11 kills, five aces, eight digs) and freshman setter Maddy Abbott (15 assists and two aces) also had strong matches for the Lightning (20-6).
No. 4-seeded Sage Hill plays at St. Paul of Santa Fe Springs in a Division IV-AA quarterfinal match Saturday. St. Paul defeated Laguna Blanca in another second-round match.

Newport Harbor 18, Chapparal 0
NEWPORT BEACH — Freshman Annie Radeva swept at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, 6-0, to highlight the Sailors’ first-round win in the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs Thursday.
Sophomore Kate Knight swept at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 and sophomore Natalie Cernius swept at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1.
The No. 1 doubles team of seniors Robin Young and Christina Young swept at love, while senior Cece Beck and junior Kelsey Christiansen won a set, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.
Newport Harbor (17-1) will play at Flintridge Prep in the second round Saturday at 2 p.m.
Flintridge Prep (14-4), which beat Dos Pueblos, 12-6, Thursday, won the coin flip to have the home match.

Sage Hill 17, Yucaipa 1
NEWPORT BEACH — The Lightning swept in doubles in the first-round match of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs Thursday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.
Liana Korber swept at No. 1 singles. Sage Hill (14-4) is scheduled to play Saturday at 2 p.m. at San Gabriel in the second round. San Gabriel won at Oaks Christian on games, 79-75, after a 9-9 tie.
If it rains on Saturday, the teams will play Monday at 2 p.m.
