Corona del Mar High sophomore Jack McBean, who recently signed a pro contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy, will play with the U.S. under-17 national team in the CONCACAF U-17 Championship title match against Canada Sunday in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

McBean, a former Mariners Christian student who grew up in Newport Beach, played the full 90 minutes in his first start Friday night, when the Americans beat host Jamaica, 2-0 in the semifinals.

According to ESPN.com, McBean came off the bench in both of the Americans’ group-stage games, playing just 26 minutes in all. The 16-year-old did not play in the quarterfinal win over El Salvador. That victory qualified the U.S. to the FIFA U-17 World Cup, in June in Mexico.

The Americans play against Canada at 4 p.m. (PST). The game can be viewed via a live streaming feed on https://www.concacaf.com, or with a cable provider connection on ESPN3.com.

As a freshman at CdM, McBean helped lead the Sea Kings to the program’s first CIF Southern Section Division IV and Southern California Regional Division II titles with a 27-1-1 record.

He played a portion of this season with the Sea Kings. Without McBean, CdM has reached the CIF Southern Section Division III semifinals. The Sea Kings play at Paramont Tuesday, in a match scheduled for 3 p.m.
