BOYS’ WATER POLO

Estancia 7, Sage Hill 5

CORONA DEL MAR — Junior driver Derek Andrews scored three goals to lead the visiting Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday at Corona del Mar High.

It was the first time Andrews led the Eagles in scoring, taking advantage of a sloughing defense focused on teammates Charlie Umansky (one goal) and Preston Schow (two).

Connor Graham had 13 saves for Estancia (15-5, 3-2 in league).

Eric Hullett led the Lightning with four goals.

Estancia plays host to crosstown rival Costa Mesa on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m.

GIRLS TENNIS

Corona del Mar 12, Sage Hill 6

NEWPORT BEACH - Nini Ugrelidze, Kalika Slevcove and Lauren Thaxter gave up only four games in the six sets of singles action they played before being subbed out of the Sea Kings’ nonleague match at The Tennis Club Wednesday.

CdM (10-4), ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll, plays No. 7 Woodbridge and No. 3 University next week in Pacific Coast League play.

Sage Hill, No. 5 in Division III, returns to Academy League action against Whitney.

Newport Harbor 18, Huntington Beach 0

NEWPORT BEACH — The No. 2 doubles team of Megan Bathen and Mindy Wheeler won 18 of 20 games to pace the host Sailors in the Sunset League clash Wednesday.

Junior Blake Bakkila and freshman Natalie Cernius also swept at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, for the Tars (13-2, 6-0 in league), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division II.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Huntington Beach def. Newport Harbor

NEWPORT BEACH — The visiting Oilers rallied for a 25-27, 15-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-10 Sunset League victory Wednesday.

Senior Maddy Brown had 15 kills and nine digs to pace the Sailors (14-8, 3-2), ranked No. 8 in the CIF Southern Section Division I-AA coaches’ poll.

Junior Cinnamon Sary had 12 kills and 20 assists and six blocks for Newport Harbor.

Tatum Norton had 22 digs.

FIELD HOCKEY

Newport Harbor 5, Westminster 0

Newport Harbor girls’ field hockey defeated Westminster 5-0 Wednesday at Harper School in a Sunset League matchup.

Seniors Taylor Cordeiro and Mary Yeager scored two goals each, while senior Megan Case added a second-half goal.

Emily Mitchell, Sophie Evans, Alex Chandler and Taylor Cordeiro assisted on the goals. The Sailors (17-2, 4-1 in league) took 16 shots on goal to three for Westminster.

The Sailors travel to Marina High Thursday for another Sunset League contest.
