CdM’s Liao Masterful once again
LONG BEACH — Corona del Mar High senior Michael Liao won the title in the 100-yard breaststroke at the CIF Southern Section Masters Swimming and Diving Championships Tuesday night at Belmont Plaza.
Liao, who had won the Division I title in the event on Friday, touched Tuesday in 56.21 seconds, one-hundredth of a second off his Division I-winning time.
He also helped the CdM boys’ 200-medley relay finish ninth at Masters, the event that combines top finishers from each of the four CIF divisions. Ari Marks, Liao, Kyle Krenan and Matt Berry finished in 1 minute, 38.30 seconds.
Newport Harbor didn’t bring its swimmers to the meet, but Sailors diver Clay Pinckney took fourth. He scored 297.75 points.
Among other top-10 finishers, the CdM girls’ 200 medley relay team of Natalie Wong, Pippa Saunders, Brynne Wong and Margot Money was 10th in 1:53.50.
