Pacifica Christian Orange County’s Judah Brown commits to St. Mary’s College
Pacifica Christian Orange County High junior forward Judah Brown recently committed to play basketball at St. Mary’s College, the school announced.
Coach Jeff Berokoff said the 6-foot-7 Brown had more than 20 NCAA Division I offers, including Nevada, George Washington, Western Kentucky and University of San Diego.
He entered Tuesday averaging team-best totals of 16.1 points, 9.6 rebounds and three blocks per game for Pacifica Christian, which is 15-6 overall, 2-2 in the San Joaquin League and ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division 4AA. Brown’s 4.4 assists per game ties him for the team lead with sophomore point guard Houston Mallette.
St. Mary’s is coached by Randy Bennett, in his 18th season. The Gaels finished the 2017-18 season with a 30-6 record.
“I picked St. Mary’s for multiple reasons,” Brown said in a release. “One huge factor is Coach Bennett. I love his coaching style, his coaching staff and the way he runs his team and I can see myself thriving in their system. The team and coaching staff are all a family, and you can feel that by being around them and that is something I want to be a part of.
“I also picked St. Mary’s because it is fairly close to home and my family can come to watch my games, but ultimately I chose St. Mary’s because after a long time praying and talking with my parents, I feel confident that this is where God is leading me for the next chapter of my life.”
