Ocean View girls’ volleyball advances to take on third-seeded Malibu
Senior setter Savannah Bonifay recorded 41 assists, seven digs and four service aces, as visiting Ocean View High swept West Covina Edgewood 25-14, 25-20, 25-20 in a second-round match of the CIF Southern Section Division 8 girls’ volleyball playoffs on Thursday.
Freshman middle blocker Wendie Smith had a team-high 12 kills. Junior outside hitter Jillian Pratt finished with 10 kills, eight digs and three aces, while junior middle blocker Helen Reynolds had 10 kills.
Junior libero Kelly Greiner produced 38 digs.
Ocean View (21-4) will play at No. 3-seeded Malibu (20-1) in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Sharks defeated Valencia Trinity Classical Academy 25-14, 25-16, 25-19 on Thursday night.
