Huntington Beach girls’ volleyball rolls to sweep in first round

The Huntington Beach High girls’ volleyball team made quick work of visiting Murrieta Valley in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on Tuesday.

Jillian Kim had 12 kills and 11 digs as the Oilers downed the Nighthawks 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.

Cristina Baily handed out 39 assists, Bailey Nelson had 10 kills, and Xolani Hodel added six kills and three blocks.

The Oilers (25-6) will play at Corona del Mar in the second round on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Huntington Beach is the last Sunset League team remaining in the playoffs. Edison, the reigning CIF State Division I champion, lost in five sets to Vista Murrieta, while Los Alamitos was swept by San Juan Hills.
